We have recently completed a series of interviews with HR and Training execs to understand how much companies spend on training. We then used this input to create estimates of training dollars spent per employee.
Along the way we found where the dollars per employee varied by major industry groups – financial services compared to agriculture for example. Also, companies in North America spend differently than Europe or the rest of the world
Using these differences, we then applied an estimated amount of training dollars for each company in The Global 5000. From there we sorted all the companies and selected those with the largest spend estimates and that file of companies is available here.
While these are estimates and not actual data or budgets, it does provide a relative number and a guide for companies looking to sell training programs and services. Using these estimates, The Global 5000 companies spend approximately $15 billion annually. The top 500 are estimated to spend $10 billion .. the big guys spend the most and have the most. Attractive targets.
