Throughout the year 2024 (and every year) we keep track of the M&A activities, spin-off’s divestitures, etc. among Global 5000 companies. Essentially any corporate activities that will materially affect their revenue and affect how companies may need to adjust their target market selling efforts. The idea is that what is in your CRM system or data used by demand generation needs to change as these corporate actions are finalized.
During 2024, there were 370 such actions between Global 5000 companies – and thousands more between Global 5000 companies and smaller companies. Looking at the industries where most of the action occurred, we find the top 5 as follows:
58 in Industrials (e.g. Boeing, General Electric)
40 Financial Services (Nippon Life Insurance, Capital One)
32 Health Care (Cigna Corp, Health Care Service Corp)
31 in Business Services (Omnicom, Xerox)
31 Oil & Gas (Energy Transfer, ConocoPhillips)
We continue to track all the activity and stay tuned — 2025 is already starting off big with a slew of retail brand announcements and two big utility company mergers.
