Our work involving annual updating and ongoing tracking of Global 5000 companies always brings an array of activity causing some companies to get removed from the list. Typically it is M&A related or company revenues coming up short of what is needed to be in the top 5000.

When this happens, we need to find replacements from our list of candidate companies in our research database. Two events popped up this week that illustrate how we keep track of these next candidates and the Global 5000 companies in the making might be.

(1) Last week, Conagra Brands (ranked #1407) announced they are selling some branded product lines (Van De Kamp and Mrs Paul’s) to High Liner Foods. High Liner is not a Global 5000 business at this point. It’s revenues are below a $1billion. We have them on our research list and will check in with their next year results to see if they will have grown enough to be included.

(2) Another spinoff / split of a Global 5000 company is in the making when Warner Bros. Discovery (ranked #401) released a report that it will split into two companies. This follows a number of media combinations and splits between studio resources and media outlets as the media market continues to evolve. We expect this won’t be the last in that segment.

The Warner Brother split will form two companies – most likely both of them will be large enough to be included in The Global 5000.
