Periodically, various analysts and news articles bring the idea of BRIC country development comes to the front. Examining The Global 5000 companies, we find 6.5% of the companies are in Brazil, Russia, India and China. But they represent nearly 10% of the revenue of the total Global 5000 database.
One other interesting aspect of this set of companies is that the revenue per employee is $214,150. This compares to the overall revenue per employee numbers for all of the Global 5000 of slightly over $400,000. The outsourcing of work to developing countries and lower cost labor help drive these stats whereas the expenses in developing countries are more heavily weighted to non-personnel items.
The top companies in these regions include:
- China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec)
- State Grid of China
- China National Petroleum
- Gazprom
- Lukoil
- TNK-BP Holding
- Indian Oil
- Reliance Industries Limited
