With the month of June behind us, here is a summary of activity for the Global 5000 database at the end of Q2 2018.
During the quarter we added 40 new companies to the database, replaced 40 others and updated 1,137 records. The currency level of the database remains at 99% — meaning nearly all the records have been updated in the past 12 months.
Some of the key new additions during the quarter include:
- Hanover Reinsurance, a $20 billion German firm
- Siemens Healthineers which is now separately listed with revenues of $15 billion+
- Meituan and Dianping one of China’s largest online wholesale firms
- ORPEA Group a $3 billion health care services firm based in France
- Sibanye Gold Limited, a South African mining company
Some of the significant companies that were removed from the Global 5000 due to acquisitions / mergers include:
- TonenGeneral Sekiyu of Japan, a $19 billion company merged with JX Holding to form JXTG – the combined entity at $93 billion in revenue
- Reynolds American, Inc. was acquired by BAT (British American Tobacco)
- CalAtlantic Group, Inc. acquired by Lennar
- CH2M Hill Companies is now part of Jacobs Engineering
- Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica has been acquired by Siemens
