A combination of companies filing revenue for the year end 2010 and a wave of mergers & acquisition activity has made this period a very busy time. We update records in the database at least once a year when the new revenue is posted or when a merger/acquisition is completed. It is an on-going process.
So far in February, we have updated 257 companies in The Global 5000. The top 10 (by revenue) are:
- Boeing
- Novartis
- Amazon
- Honeywell
- Schlumberger
- SCA (Svenska Celulosa)
- Union Pacific
- Asahi Glass
- Carnival Corporation
Nearly all companies showed a strong recovery compared to 2009 — but none better than Amazon which saw a revenue increase of nearly 40%.
The M&A activity is solidly global and there is no stronger symbol of this than the recent merger talks involving the NYSE and Deutchse Borse.
Plus we have seen increased activity by the Chinese banks and government. The government in China recently formed an entity to review all external investments into Chinese companies …. a sure sign there is more to come.
With all this activity and change, companies have a lot to do to keeping CRM systems and internal databases up to date — how is yours?
