Focusing on the largest firms – The Global 5000 – there are generally more of these than in smaller companies. These activities and changes become important for Database Marketers as they have to continually update their internal systems that can feed sales prospects and account management.

- Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. will buy New Zealand beverage maker Independent Liquor Ltd.
- AuRico Gold is acquiring Northgate Minerals
- Barrick Gold is acquiring Equinox Minerals
- Capital One Financial is acquiring HSBC US credit card operation
- Charter International is in talks to be acquired
- Coal & Allied is in talks with Rio Tinto and Mitsubishi
- Collective Brands is shutting down Payless and Stride Rite stores and selling the company
- Datatel is merging with Sungaurd’s Higher Education division
- EADS is acquiring satellite company Vizada
- Electrolux is acquiring CTI of Chile
- Google is acquiring Motorola Mobility
- H&R Block is selling a consulting unit to McGladrey & Pullen LLP
- Hewlett Packard is acquiring Autonomy and selling off PC and Mobile business
- Kraft Foods is separating into 2 companies
- Nestle is acquiring 60% of Hsu Fu Chi International Ltd Chinese food company
- Northumbrian Water Group is being acquired by Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings
- Royal Bank of Scotland is selling it’s insurance operations
- ThyssenKrupp agreed to sell service provider Xervon to waste disposal company Remondis
- Time Warner Cable acquiring Insight Communications
- Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank) acquiring Canadian credit card operations of Bank of America
- Transocean acquiring Aker Drilling
