With September coming to a close, there were a number of corporate activities including M&A, IPO filings, private equity financing, and spin-offs. Focusing on the largest firms – The Global 5000 – there are generally more of these than in smaller companies. These activities and changes become important for Database Marketers as they have to continually update their internal systems that can feed sales prospects and account management.

- Broadcom is acquiring NetLogic
- Carlyle Group is filing an IPO
- Google is acquiring Zagat
- Hitachi is acquiring data storage firm BlueArc
- International Paper is acquiring TempleInland
- McGraw Hill is splitting into 2 companies
- Microsemi is acquiring Zarlink Semiconductor
- Nationwide is acquiring Harleysville Mutual Insurance
- Netflix is separating it’s DVD business into a separate entity called Qwikster
- NewPage is filing Chapter 11
- Reynolds Group acquired Graham Packaging
- SABMiller acquiring Foster’s
- Spyker Cars is being acquired by private equity
- Tyco International will be spplitting into 3 companies – ADT, Flow Control and Fire businesses
- United Technologies is acquiring Goodrich
