Every month we track the corporate activity for the Global 5000 companies as they acquire new businesses or divest of various operations. These ‘comings and goings’ are interesting and shape markets over time. - Hostess Brands is liquidating (and as we know shutting down Twinkie production to the dismay of many)
- Leucadia National is acquiring Jefferies Group
- Li & Fung is acquiring Suhyang Networks
- Living Social is announcing significant layoffs amid shrinking sales and will drop out of The Global 5000
- London Metal Exchange acquired LCH Clearnet
- Maus Freres acquired Lacoste
- Metinvest agreed to buy the Slovakian subsidiary of U.S. Steel Corp .
- Onex acquiring USI insurance
- Osram is spinning off from Siemens as a separate company
- Priceline.com, Inc. is acquiring Kayak
- Reckitt Benckiser Group is acquiring Schiff Nutrition
- Starbucks is acquiring Teavana Holdings
- Whirlpool is acquiring controlling interest in Alno of Germany
