In the news today, McKesson (# 46 on the G5000 list) has agreed to acquire private company US Oncology (#1686 on the G5000 with $3.3 billion) .
We know the Health Care sector is huge — over $3 trillion – and a hot spot in the news these days. There are 250 companies in all aspects of Health Care on the G5000 list now. With the amount of activity and monies involved we expect to see more activity and more M&A’s.
It is interesting to note that in 2007, the revenue growth in this industry group was 5.5%. For 2008, it was flat … but did not decline like so many sectors. Then 2009 was up again 5.6% It would not be surprising to see 2010 be up by more than that once the books are closed on this year.
