One thing we focus on is the continual movement of companies, markets and industries to grow more globally. The slow (or no) growth of economies in the US and Europe combined with fast growing countries like China mean that companies have to look for growth other than where they have in the recent past.

Today’s news illustrates the case. Burger King (ranked # 1959 on our G5000 list) accepted a bid to be taken private. One of the drivers for the new owners is to help the company expand faster globally. The new equity fund has Latin America influence and can help Burger King in that regard. Currently Burger King has about 1/3 of their outlets outside of the US.
