With the close of the 3rd quarter 2018, we are pleased to provide a summary of activity for the Global 5000 during the quarter.
During the quarter we added 58 new companies to the database, replacing another 58 and updated 1,978 records. The currency level of the database remains at 99% — meaning nearly all the records have been updated in the past 12 months.
Some of the key new additions during the month of September include:
- Xinjiang Guanghui Industry Investment, a Chinese investment holding company
- Bank of Jiangsu Co Ltd
- Bank of Shanghai Co., Ltd
- Haseko Corp. of Japan
- Sino-Ocean Land Holdings Ltd.
Some of the significant companies that were removed from the Global 5000 due to acquisitions / mergers include:
- Bohai Steel Group is now in bankruptcy proceedings
- UNY Corp of Japan has been acquired
- Sapa Group has been acquired by Norsk Hydro
- Darty Plc has been acquired
- Fertitta entertainment operates as a subsidiary of Stations Casino
